New Hope team working with Realityll

groupDuring the first week of the school Summer holidays, a city-wide project called Reality II hit Norwich.

In Lakenham, there were several different activities organised. With 4 local churches working together, (St. John’s, St. Paul’s, Ipswich Roar URC & New Hope), the ‘Super Heroes’ Holiday Club was held at New Hope Christian Centre. Over 30 children are taking part in craft, drama, music and dancing. Everyone is having a great time, volunteers and children alike. The Holiday club is proving to be an great success.

On Monday, a team of volunteers, including Duane Elkins and Craig from New Hope took on the task of clearing and tidying a local resident’s garden. Having started with the end fence out of sight, the garden has now had several skip loads of rubble removed. The volunteers have done a first-class job of strimming, hedge cutting, lawn mowing and working with great enthusiasm.

dance work shopSt. Mark’s church hall was the venue for a dance workshop. 8 young people are working with volunteers to put together an original routine which will be performed at the last night BBQ. A drama workshop has also worked with young people to put together an original production based around the story of the Good Samaritan. This will also be part of the entertainment for the last night BBQ.

What makes these events so great is that people are not only working together in the community, but also young people are joining local churches and seeking to show the love of God to the world in a practical and tangible way.
