Church in the local Cafe
New Hope Christian Centre and St Marks Church Lakenham are togeth er starting an outreach programme in Pat’s Café top of Hall Road.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity that has opened to us,” said Duane Elkins, leader of the New Hope Christian Centre. “We have been praying together for several months about reaching into our community and God has opened this door.”
The Rev Erik West-Lindell vicar of St Marks agreed, “There was a real unity of spirit at our last meeting, we were able to agree the purpose and dates in less than an hour.”
The purpose is to offer a listening ear to those who frequent the cafe. It is a chance to meet people from the community in a non-threatening environment.
The café owner has invited the churches to use the venue on Thursday afternoons from 1 – 3 pm starting on 7th October. People from both churches will be there and available to simply chat, befriend and offer pastoral care. We would love to meet you there. If anyone using Chat @ Pat’s on a Thursday wishes to purchase hot food they should be at the cafe by 1.00 pm.
