A growing work

Thkids clubis work has grown beyond all expectation. We now have 146 children on our books (and just hope they don’t all decide to come on the same night!) Our club night is Thursday from 6.30 – 7.30pm. The evenings are action packed, and during the Summer we can offer more outside activities around Basket Ball, Table tennis and team games. The very favourite game for all ages is ‘Manhunt’ which is really a game of tag. Four parents are now working with us as volunteers and form part of a great team led by Clare and Duane Elkins. Because of the children and youth work, many families in the community are now building relationships with us based on trust, and home visits have become an important part of our work.

Alongside the clubs we run programmes in the Lakenham Primary School working with those who are under achieving. The Kickstart programme deals with issues of self confidence.

The inter – generational programme brings together children from the school and people who attend the Day Centre and the mentoring scheme works with children who have particular problems in coping with school.
Our Holiday Club Programme will run during the month of August and on Thursday August 5th we are expecting a visit from Simon Wright the M. P. for Lakenham.
