The TRUST Programme

This is our Adult Literacy programme working with young adults who left school unable to read or write at an appropriate level.  The programme manager is Pam Leslie, a retired headmistress and she has a great compassion for those who slipped through the net during their early years of education.  Pam and her team of volunteers have helped one young woman gain a Food Hygine certificate, and are now working with her to take her driving test. 

 

Another recent development is the work with a group of ladies who are refugees and asylum seekers and do not have spoken English.  The sessions are great fun as they share their different cultures, food and family life.  This group of ten women have developed strong friendships which have increased their confidence to integrate more into the local community, and some are beginning to expand their horizons by working as volunteers.
