Kick Start Programme Graduation
There was an air of excitement as about 50 people, (children, pare nts and teachers) gathered after school, at the Lakenham Primary School. Twelve children, aged eight to twelve, had completed the “Kick Start” programme that morning and were now about to give a final presentation to all those who had come to graduation. The youngsters had participated in preparing the food and were nervously anticipating giving their talk. Anne Tatum represented “Radio Broadland Kids”, who sponsored the course and Chrissie presented the certificates and gave out the prizes. Parents who were present were amazed that their children could stand up in front of so many people and share with confidence what the course had done for them. “My son has had a tough two years and this course has done a lot to rebuild his confidence” said one parent. Clare Elkins, one of the course instructors said, “We really saw the children grow as they tackled some of the challenges we presented them with.” Teachers who took part were most enthusiastic and delighted that we would be returning in the autumn to run another course. “The children were very dissapointed that the course had come to an end and we hope the contact will continue through the Thursday Club at New Hope Chrisian Centre” Doreen Betts commented.
